Android Developer

Position

We are looking for an Android developer to join our brilliant client-side development teams. The teams responsibilities include web (desktop, mobile/tablet, 10ft), native (mobile/tablet, 10ft) and playback (all devices) development.

For this role you must be able to work on a hybrid basis with at least 1 day per week working in our office based in Skopje.

We build and maintain a variety of modern apps, including cross-platform and multi-language user-facing streaming (live and on-demand) applications (e.g. https://ufcfightpass.com), several custom back-office portals to support them, our very own player engine (across all platforms), and everything in between (e.g. common private packages, lambdas). Our stack is based on TypeScript, React, Node.js and AWS.

Responsibilities

• Design and build best of class Front-End experiences
• Own, enhance and maintain our Android code base
• Participate in the technical design of your required deliverables, in addition to contributing to the end-to-end solution with your ideas
• Collaborate with other Front-End developers and Back-End system developers in building out an end-to-end solution that scales
• Collaborate with QA Engineering in ensuring a robust test approach is defined for your development deliverables

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, different versions of Android, and how to deal with different screen sizes
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect Android applications to back-end services
• Knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks
• Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
• Familiarity with continuous integration
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git
• Commercial experience in building Android applications
• Good communication skills
• A knack for benchmarking and optimization
• Understanding of Google’s Android design principles and interface guidelines

Desirable:

• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
• Familiarity with cloud message APIs and push notifications
• Experience with ExoPlayer and video playback
