Position: PHP DevOps Developer
About the Company
Pickatale is a digital publisher of premium interactive storybooks for children (aged 0-12), with an ever-growing library! To date, our app boasts over 1000 books in English and Norwegian, and a large number in Chinese, Swedish and Danish.
Our books are to a child what art galleries are to an adult: a collection of masterpieces, finely curated by our dedicated team of professionals. Always on the lookout for talented individuals, we bring together the work of authors, illustrators, narrators and translators from all over the globe, sewing them seamlessly together into unique pieces of our own and delivering them to children all around the world through the library apps.
Your skills:
Multiple years of professional experience with maintaining Linux based systems
Mastering PHP web service programming, Familiar with CodeIgnitor framework
Mastering Node.js and ExpressJS
Strong scripting skill set – Bash or Python
Knowledge of version control systems – Git preferred
Experience with MySQL and MongoDB, CouchDB
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, databases, caching and load balancers
Experience with Virtualization technologies – experience with Proxmox is a plus
Capable of technical deep-dives into code, networking, systems, and storage with experienced engineers
Ability to mentor junior engineers and work on projects with the devops team
Very good English communication skill is required
Nice to have:
Knowledge of monitoring systems
Knowledge of Unit Testing and performance profiling tools
Experience with Galera Cluster setup
Provide track record of working with cloud solutions (AWS or Azure)
In-depth knowledge of security practices and tools (firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems)
Experience with setting up, using and maintaining the Elastic Stack (ELK)
Responsibilities:
Monitor, manage and maintain the stability, scalability and performance of Pickatale’s system infrastructure
Diagnose problems detected by our systems and work quickly to resolve them
Improve the scalability and reliance of our systems
Creation of procedures and documentation for the company’s infrastructure operations
