Senior Android Engineer

Pickatale is a fast growing ed-tech startup based out of Norway and Beijing. Our team currently produces digital children’s books for iOS and Android, focused on improving literacy and language skills, and has had users in over 200 countries!

Join our team and be a part of some amazing projects, including custom apps for BabyFirst (3rd largest TV channel for toddlers in the USA), China Mobile (The world’s largest telecom company) and a handful of other amazing partners.

We are developing the next generation app for young children’s education and language learning. We are looking for an experienced Android / Javascript developer to build the foundation of our new Android apps, and to constantly improve it with new learning and engagement features as we create them. This developer will also be responsible for white-label partner apps.

The candidate should have a track record in developing mobile Android apps, preferably with experience in digital children’s products, with an understanding of how to build strong foundations that modules can be added to seamlessly.

Responsibilities

• Lead and take responsibility for the development of Pickatale V2’s Android projects and current white-label Android apps
• Contribute in a cross-team design process for the next generation of Pickatale, providing insights from a front-end and user experience perspective to ensure that our complete architecture is built to last
• Collaborate with our design, pedagogy and tech teams throughout the design and development process

Work Conditions

• On-call availability and periodic overtime. As a startup, there will be times when projects or emergencies require overtime by staff. This will occur only at a reasonable degree
